Mariachi Music

The only thing more Mexican than Tequila is the Mariachi.

Mariachi goes beyond music – it is the sum of the cultural revolution expressed through a group of musicians dressed in beautiful costumes – the "charro". It encompasses the essence of Mexico and it’s people and it is something cultural, spiritual and traditional that is unique to this country.

The Mariachi originated in the state of Jalisco, Mexico and the songs speak about machismo, love, betrayal death, politics, revolutionary heroes and even animals.

There are many theories about the origins of the name "Mariachi", however the truth is unknown, but it is a name that is associated with a great deal of prestige not only in Mexico but around the world.

The most prized of the Mariachis in the early part of the twentieth century and still today are those from the state of Jalisco, particularly from Guadalajara, tecatitlan and Cocula.
